Established in 1976, the Soul Bar has long been part of Canberra’a pub scene, and today stands as the only pub still remaining in the Woden area.

The pub has recently undergone a change in management, and is now run by former professional footballer Alan Strachan and his family.

Well known in local football circles, Alan came to Canberra in 1988 to compete in the NSL, having previously played in the Scottish Football League with Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Arbroath. He also represented Scotland at schoolboy level.

Alan and his team have already brought the soul back to the bar, by creating a warm, friendly personable atmosphere that makes everyone welcome.

The Soul Bar has a comprehensive range of nine tap beers, which include Guiness, Kilkenny, Sparkling Coopers, Fat Yak, Carlton, XXXX, Peroni, Coopers, Resch’s and Bulmers Cider.

There is also a large range of bottled beers, and a fantastic collection of wines.

The Soul Bar really is a great place to relax, with a rear beer garden, rear atrium area,  as well as an outdoor front area. There is also a pool table and a juke box. Traditionally the place to come and see live music, Alan is introducing live music again on friday evenings commencing 3/8/12.

The Soul Bar is located in the corner of Woden Square, diagonally across from the entrance to the Westfield Woden Shopping Centre.
