This place is gonna be all about the beer. Soon as it gets its liquor license. The same crew who brought us 399 hope to feature a certain brewer (à la Generous Squire) but leave some taps for boutique brews. They’re also planning some traditional lever operated taps (unlike the gas fed lines at every other establishment in town) to deliver lager unadulterated by CO2.

While the license is pending, there’s some decent eats to keep us occupied (like open sandwiches of roast beef and horseradish cream or duck rillettes with orange and cranberry relish). And the distinctive surrounds. In a previous life, the building housed a dingy pool hall. That loving bikie den feeling is now gone, thanks to a neat cantilevered sky light (although an African-animal-print pool table plays homage to the balls racked in misspent youths). So there’s a bit to check out now. Although, we suspect it will be at least 5 times better when they can serve you a beer.
