Kate Miller-Heidke is the truly original, perceptive musician, who combines her unique theatrical musicality with her bubbly sense of energy and heartfelt enjoyment – these qualities shine through her music and she performed recently in Melbourne to launch her new album, Curiouser, which has been acknowledged as “astoundingly brilliant”.
With the venue packed to the brim, Kate was greeted on stage by a roar from the crowd – all anxious to hear her blend of pop-operatic melodies. Looking cute in her sparkly black dress sitting at her keyboard, Kate and the band commenced effortlessly into Motorscooter, her style enchanting.
Mama was next from her debut album, Little Eve, followed by Little Adam – both prompted the crowd to sing along effortlessly. Kate created a mood in the room that was totally infectious; the crowd beaming and eating out of her hand. Jokes and funny yarns were shared in between tunes as Kate played through the magical set with husband Keir Nuttall on guitar, bassist Ben McCarthy, drummer Steve Pope and Nicole Brophy. Her captivating vocal acrobatics continued on until the end of the show – each and every fan totally satisfied.
