He is known as “the most supremely confident entertainer of his generation”. From his ‘N Sync days to his one man mission to bring ‘Sexy Back’ Justin Timberlake knows how to make headlines and remain in the celebrity spotlight. His current fame now cuts across black and white, suburban and urban, and numerous continents around the world; when you consider his potential net worth in a decade, he may be able to buy his own continent.

Raised in Memphis, Tennessee, he began to perform at a very young age, whether it was acting, singing or dancing. The world was first introduced to Justin as a youngster on Star Search, his first-ever television appearance – back in those early days Timberlake sang mostly country music, a direct result of his Music City background. In 1992 his big break came when he was offered the chance to become a regular on Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club, that’s where he met Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Keri Russell and future fellow ‘N Sync’er JC Chasez.

As his Mickey Mouse Club days came to an end, a new project came up. Justin was invited to join a boy band by Lou Pearlman, a talent-agent-turned-scam-artist, who was already working with Chris Kirkpatrick. Joined by JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Lance Bass, the boys formed ‘N Sync. Despite being taken advantage by their record company (they were swindled out of hundreds of millions of dollars) ‘N Sync enjoyed success abroad in the mid-1990’s and exploded on the US charts with blockbuster albums such as ‘No Stings Attached’ and ‘Celebrity’, and were in direct competition with The Backstreet Boys. Timberlake in particular, stood out as the leader of the group, even as the youngest member, with his undeniable talents.

His fame continued to rise, amidst his rumoured and then confirmed romance with teen queen Britney Spears; the couple was, for a time, Hollywood royalty and a match seemingly made in pop idol heaven. Although the romance didn’t last, the relationship survived for long enough to provide priceless exposure to both Timberlake and Spears.

Justin continued to keep busy after the boys from ‘N Sync went their own separate ways and in 2002 he released his first solo album ‘Justified’, which featured the singles Cry Me A River and Rock Your Body, both highly successful hits. He has also collaborated with the Black Eyed Peas and was featured on Nelly’s song Work It. Justin formed his own record company in 2005 called JayTee Records and successfully released a second solo album in 2006, his Prince-inspired 'FutureSex/LoveSounds', which featured production work from Timbaland and Rick Rubin. This latest album has so far produced the successful hit singles SexyBack, My Love, What Goes Around ... Comes Around and LoveStoned/I Think She Knows Interlude. 

When Justin’s not chillin’ with his best friend, Trace Ayala (who he designs the clothing line William Rast with), he’s mixing things up with the ladies. After his very public break-up with Britney, Justin went on to date Alyssa Milano briefly before meeting Cameron Diaz in 2003 – the handsome couple dated for three years before calling it quits in January 2007. Since then Justin has been romantically linked to both Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johannson.

Who could forget the look of horror on Justin’s face while watching the infamous Britney and Madonna kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards? JT was this time directly responsible for another titillating moment when he ripped off part of Janet Jackson’s costume at the end of his halftime duet with Jackson, during Super Bowl XXXVIII. Her right breast was exposed, the FCC and millions of fans were furious, but Justin claimed it was a ‘wardrobe malfunction’. 

Justin has become a veteran performer with an abundance of talent as a pure entertainer – the man can dance, his voice is above par for an ex-boy band recruit and his charisma is pure gold; despite his great success Justin remains modest and can’t quite come to terms with his effect on girls. He simply can’t understand why the fans become speechless when he looks at them …
